My Reasons For Undergoing This Challenge and for Choosing Epilepsy Action
After my introduction I said I would explain why I have decided to take on this challenge and why for the charity 'Epilepsy Action'.
Why Epilepsy Action?
At age 15 I began to have seizures for no apparent reason and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Epilepsy Action were a great source of knowledge and support as a teenager getting my head around this and I hope that they can continue to help others in the same way.
Epilepsy Action also do a lot of research into the medical (non laboratory) and social aspects of epilepsy. Having had first hand experience of how greatly the medication itself can affect your life, I believe the social aspect of living with epilepsy is just as important as stopping the seizures themselves. Often people believe that as long as you're not having seizures you're fine but that is not always the case.
Why Would I Do This Challenge?
Being diagnosed with epilepsy changed my life but after eventually finding pills that seem to work perfectly for me, finding a job I really enjoy despite everything, other than having to be a bit more 'sensible' than most I finally feel that after 8 years I am at a stage where I am totally free from it. Now is the time to prove it!
But it is not only about the training and fitness for the actual ride. I also have the challenge of raising £3000! So if anyone would like to help out on that side...!! ;-)
